Gazzetta dello Sport is a grand old European newspaper. One of the most respected around, and rightfully so given their history. However, they’ve left us somewhat open-mouthed at their contradicting claims on 24 year old Marcelo Brozovic this weekend. The Croatian midfielder is repeatedly linked with an Inter Milan exit, another young player who the Italian club look keen to cash in on too early. Rumours have been around since the summer and the feeling has been that so long as a club offer a reasonable fee they can have Brozo.Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho travelling to Zagreb this week has been widely reported as being due to an Ivan Perisic interest, indeed Gazzetta said as much on Saturday. The Italian newspaper pointed out that Inter are very keen to keep Perisic, but will listen to offers for Brozovic. To be clear, they said: ‘It’s a different speech for Brozovic, deemed no longer necessary, Inter asks 25 million to 30 million for him.’Fast forward to Sunday and things are very different indeed.Like, really, really different.Gazzetta say Brozovic could be the golden goose for Inter, and selling him for €50m would ease the club’s FFP worries. The player is said to have a €50m release clause in his contract.€50m? But, but, you said €25m, maybe €30m.There’s no explanation for the change, other than someone presumably thinking: Mourinho + Man United = Much bigger transfer fee.If Manchester United are interested perhaps they could throw in Matteo Darmian, and this time value the Italian at, erm, let’s use Gazzetta’s calculator… €30m.by Taboolaby TaboolaSponsored LinksSponsored LinksPromoted LinksPromoted LinksTrending TodayForge of Empires – Free Online GameBuild a Beautiful City and Play With Your FriendsForge of Empires – Free Online GameUndoRaid: Shadow Legends | Free DownloadEven Non-Gamers Are Obsessed With This RPG Game (It’s Worth Installing!)Raid: Shadow Legends | Free DownloadUndo聽多多 Hearmore.asia1969年前出生的香港居民現可免費試戴頂尖的歐洲助聽器聽多多 Hearmore.asiaUndoSingles50Hong Kong: A 40+ Dating Site That Actually Works!Singles50UndoTheTopFiveVPNEnjoy Netflix Now Without Any RestrictionsTheTopFiveVPNUndoDating.comTung Chung is actually full of single men. Wilmar Barrios and Tottenham claims won’t die, despite denials from the English club of interest. In October it was again claimed that Spurs have an agreement in place to sign the midfielder. That agreement would be with his entourage and there’d been no actual offer made to Boca Juniors, according to the reports.Marca then stated, when covering Real Madrid interest, that Spurs had been ‘first to submit an offer’, pushing them ahead of interest from Spanish clubs. That offer could well have been to those representing the player, rather than Boca.Looking at the Copa Copa Libertadores final from the weekend, AS stated that Barrios is ‘coveted by Real Madrid and Tottenham’, pushing the interest along. The Spanish newspaper explained the weekend game was a perfect opportunity for European club scouts, and therefore a test for players. The first leg of the final provided a chance for scouts, and fans, to watch Barrios and others in a really high pressure match. After Saturday’s kick-off was postponed until Sunday because of bad weather, the tension only served to build more. Barrios didn’t wilt, with the 25 year being one of the best players on the pitch, playing in a central role for Boca Juniors.Argentine newspaper Ole rated Barrios 8/10, with only Boca goalkeeper Agustín Rossi rated more highly. That was certainly a test pass for the Colombian midfielder, and will only help to increase interest.by Taboolaby TaboolaSponsored LinksSponsored LinksPromoted LinksPromoted LinksTrending TodayRaid: Shadow Legends | Free DownloadEven Non-Gamers Are Obsessed With This RPG Game (It’s Worth Installing!)Raid: Shadow Legends | Free DownloadUndoKeto减肥1個簡單的妙招一夜「融化」腹部贅肉（今晚試試）Keto减肥UndoCNBC InternationalHere’s How Big Businesses in Singapore Are Managing the Impact of COVID-19.CNBC InternationalUndoStanChart by CNBC CatalystWill Blockchain Reduce the Global Trade Finance Gap to Reach the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals?StanChart by CNBC CatalystUndoPerfect-Dating.comReveal Tung Chung As The Best City to Date for Love & RomancePerfect-Dating.comUndoDating.comTung Chung is actually full of single men. Fresh off the plane, 2017 Commonwealth Youth silver medalist, Keevin Allicock and Colin Lewis sprung into training yesterday ahead of the XXI Commonwealth Games. Commonly known as Gold Coast 2018, the Games will be held on the GoldCoast, Queensland, Australia between April 4 and 15.Yesterday, the pair of standout pugilists were taken through their paces by Sebert Blake. President of the GBA, Steve Ninvalle said he is confident of Allicock (flyweight) and Lewis (light welterweight) boxing their way to the podium in their respective weight classes.“It’s our expectation that both of them will do well and I know they will give their best efforts. The style of fighting that both parties have can more easily conquer opponents in the Commonwealth than in Latin America.”Stabroek Sport will keep readers updated as events unfold.

Warner Bros. and © DC Comics(LOS ANGELES) — Christian Bale is loving the fact that Robert Pattinson will play the next Batman.Entertainment Tonight reports that Bale said he’s very excited about the new Caped Crusader. The Dark Knight actor gushed, “Wonderful choice for Batman!” He also called Pattinson “an absolutely fantastic actor.”Fan reactions have been mixed, with the naysayers associating Pattinson with the Twilight phenomenon that gripped the nation nearly a decade ago.Despite that, Bale — who played Batman in three critically-acclaimed films from 2005 to 2012 — is telling the public to get over it, and wishes Pattinson “all the best.”The now-33-year-old Pattinson did admit that he was unsure about the casting in Matt Reeves’ The Batman — until he put on the suit. In an interview with Variety last month, Pattinson revealed, “I put it on. I remember saying to Matt, ‘It does feel quite transformative!’ He was like, ‘I would hope it does! You’re literally in the Batsuit.’”Copyright © 2019, ABC Radio. All rights reserved.
LOS ANGELES | Some silken-haired beauties are eager sidekicks to motorcycle riders, wind whipping their thick locks as passers-by watch the wild ride with envy. That is until the slobber starts. These passengers are pooches — mastiffs, Labradors and Chihuahuas often clad in goggles and tiny leather jackets that fly along in blimp-shaped buckets attached to the side of motorcycles. They are set apart from other pets by speed instead of breed. They are also the stars of “Sit Stay Ride: The Story of America’s Sidecar Dogs,” a documentary that was largely funded by an online crowdfunding campaign and gives a quarter of its proceeds to shelters and rescues. The movie is also available for free to any animal welfare agency wanting to screen it as a fundraiser. The documentary by filmmaking couple Eric and Geneva Ristau is the unique story of 15 dogs and 18 riders who spend all the time they can on three wheels.Ian Roper, 43, of Snohomish, Washington, and his bull mastiff Bruce love to take it easy on a slow ride. It’s a departure for Roper, who said he raced cars and motorcycles for years in Detroit and Snohomish, a city northeast of Seattle, to enjoy the speed and feel of the open air.“It is much slower than a motorcycle, but it is a much more relaxed ride,” Roper said.Bruce, who’s nearly 4 and weighs 135 pounds, keeps it interesting on the road. When they are in the forest, the dog will react if he detects a deer or other wildlife.“He is tied in so he can’t run off, but he’ll stand up if he smells something interesting,” Roper said.If tree branches hang over the road, “he will grab at leaves as they go by. When we get where we are going, the sidecar is half-full of leaves. It’s a game to him.”Things get really fun when they come to a stop sign or park at a store and a crowd gathers around. Everyone is laughing and pointing at Bruce in his sweet ride. Then, the dog will start shaking his head, splattering slobber on the crowd or their cars. Smiles fade, people move away and cars drive off.“I never really thought about a sidecar until I got a dog, but I will never be without one again,” Roper said. They started their travels when Roper got Bruce as a puppy and decided it would be fun to hit the road with his dog. So the mechanical design engineer took classes and bought a $14,000 customized motorcycle-sidecar.Don’t let the price tag scare you off, he says, anyone can get started for $6,000.Roper has a stable of seven motorcycles — fast ones for his own use and the sidecar for Bruce, which has racked up 10,000 miles.Riding with a dog is a different experience, he said. They can’t move around a lot or they will tip.“Bruce leans into corners when we turn, and I would love to think he was doing that to help out, but I think he does it because he doesn’t want to fall over,” he said. The Ristaus, of Missoula, Montana, spent nine months filming Roper and Bruce and the other riders in Wisconsin, North Carolina, Ohio and Washington state. They condensed about 50 hours of interviews into the finished film of 84 minutes. When they started, the couple didn’t know they would get so hooked on the unique rides that they would get their own sidecar, too.“The journey is the goal rather than the destination,” Eric Ristau said.Online:www.sidecardogs.com

With a group of veterans returning, prospects look bright for the Keyport High School wrestling team this winter. The Red Raiders, 3-11 a year ago, opened the season with a razor-thin 37-36 loss to South River before taking seventh place in the Matawan tourney, where junior Tim Vollmuth took first place at 189 pounds. Derek Maldonado (215) finished second in Matawan, while Luis Arrufat (130) and Chris Jensen (135) took fourth-place in their respective weight classes. “Our goal is to qualify for the state tournament and do well in the District competition,” coach Al Smith said. “I think we have the talent and experience to do well.” While the Red Raiders are generally experienced, Dave Metz (160) is the lone senior on the team. Metz went 14-9 last year and Smith is expecting a strong season from him this time around. Maldonado, a junior who went 16-5 last season, is another team leader. Arrufat is coming off of a 15-6 campaign, while Jensen and Vollmuth both went 9-9. Sophomore Pat Gallago (119), who had an impressive 14-win performance as a freshman, also returns. Other key competitors include juniors John Pizarro (HW), 10-9; Bill Parcells (171) 5-7; James Henning (152), who moves up from the junior varsity; Joe Martisch (145), who returns after taking a year off; James Smith (140); Jason Palendrano (140); Jim Pineda (125) and Dan Cornell (112). Sophomore Anthony Santiago (125) rounds out the lineup. “We’re very optimistic,” Smith said. “This is a hard-working group of kids, and they’re getting better and better. Overall, I was pleased with what we did in the Matawan tournament — it was a good start.” Keyport returns to action after the holiday break on Wednesday, when the Red Raiders visit Rumson-Fair Haven. — Warren Rappleyea
The big clash of round three of the Cyprus playoffs is undoubtedly the meeting between Apollon and Apoel in Limassol – the two teams leading the championship race – with the Limassol side holding a two-point advantage over the champions. The last time the two sides met was on the last day of the regular season in Limassol with Apollon that time topping the table by a single point. Against the odds, Apoel deservedly won and went into the playoffs with a two-point advantage which they have since surrendered after drawing their first two playoff games and Apollon winning both of theirs.Apollon though are fully aware of the danger that Apoel poses, especially when they are backed into a corner. Under similar circumstances the Nicosia team put five past them in their first round game in Nicosia.Apollon coach Sofronis Avgousti will be hoping that this time he can outsmart Apoel’s Italian coach Paolo Trammezani and open up a five-point lead at the top.Apollon’s press spokesperson Fanourios Constantinou admitted that a win for his side will give them a clear advantage over Apoel in the race for the championship but not the title itself as there will still be seven games to be played.“The two best teams will be competing on Sunday and the one that makes the fewer mistakes will win,” said Fanourios. His Apoel counterpart Nectarios Petevinos more or less echoed the same thing saying: “It (the game) won’t decide the title but it may go a long way in deciding the eventual champions.”On the playing side Avgousti will be without Facundo Perreira but Kevin Bru seems be winning his fitness race despite initial fears that he would miss out.Tramezzani seems to have lost the plot over the past couple of months. His team has managed just two wins from their last seven games and most worryingly their displays justified nothing more. The Italian has chopped and changed his side trying to find a solution but has persisted on two fronts, playing with three central defenders and more surprisingly demoting Apoel’s captain and most influential player, Nuno Morais, to the bench since the beginning of February.Apoel have two injury worries ahead of the game with the odds against Pantelis Vouros making the team but with Carlao expected to be passed fit and taking his place alongside Merkis and Ioannou at the heart of Apoel’s defence. The two other Sunday games involve the relegation group with Pafos FC at home to Anorthosis and Alki taking on Doxa Katokopias.Pafos FC tend to perform much better against the ‘stronger’ teams and will be looking to take advantage of Anorthosis’ off field problems and sneak the win.In the other game Alki can pull five points clear of the relegation zone if they manage to overcome Doxa Katokopias, whose season imploded since Janauary, despite a promising start. As things are right now in the bottom group, four teams, Alki, Pafos FC, Doxa and Enosis are separated by just two points and one of them will join doomed Ermis Aradippou in the second division.
